Now that most of the holiday busy-ness is over, you may need a chance to regroup. Here’s an idea I love: “soaking in bed.”* This doesn’t involve actual water—just giving yourself time to savor the warmth of your bed for a while after you’ve had a good sleep. It’s like the long weekend-morning sleeps you may have had as a teenager—a simple luxury we often deny ourselves as adults.
(*Thanks to Maureen from the Family Constellations retreat for this great expression.)
Allow yourself time—at least one morning soon—to sleep until you wake up naturally. Then bask in the coziness of your bed. “Soak” solo, or with your partner (or your pet). Let your thoughts ramble, or focus on things you’re grateful for. Give yourself the gift of just being.
